Running a boutique is definitely not as glamorous as social media sometimes makes it look… but honestly, I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
My mornings usually start simple: getting ready for the day with a bagel for breakfast and my 40oz Hydro full of ice water. If you know me, you know I love my H2O.
Before heading out the door, I take care of my two pups, Silas and Elliott. They’re my babies. Every morning I feed and water them, and little Silas gets his medicine since he’s literally allergic to just about everything.
After that, I head to the boutique, usually opening around 9:30am.
Every single day looks a little different, which is one of the things I love most about owning a boutique. During open hours, I might be:
- steaming new arrivals
- tagging inventory
- creating marketing content
- mopping floors
- dressing mannequins
- redoing displays
- helping customers style outfits
- running to the bank
- heading to the post office to ship online orders
There’s always something to do behind the scenes that most people never see.
Being a boutique owner means wearing all the hats at once — stylist, marketer, cleaner, buyer, photographer, shipping department, customer service… you name it.
At the end of the day, I head home to make supper, walk with the dogs or a quick workout in the basement and catch up with my parents and kids. Then it’s usually laundry, cleaning, or tackling another task around the house because there’s always something waiting to get done.
By around 9pm, I’m finally winding down for the night with my pups, my heating pad, and a show playing in the background. But even then, I’m usually still doing marketing for the boutique right from bed.
Most nights, I’m finally off to sleep around 10:30pm… only to wake up and do it all again the next day.
Owning a boutique is exhausting, rewarding, chaotic, and fulfilling all at once — and I’m so thankful for every single person who supports this little dream of mine.
